The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), in collaboration with the Information Technology Authority (ITA), is organizing the National Open Data Symposium from October 1 to October 3, 2018. The symposium started under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Haitham Bin Tariq, Minister of Heritage and Culture, at Kempinski Hotel.
During the symposium, there will be discussions on the best practices in open data. International experiences in a number of sectors, such as education, health, labor market, transport, logistics, environment and other related areas, will also be shared during the symposium. It is aimed at opening windows of partnership between the public and private sectors by highlighting the official data that meet the requirements of various private sector institutions. The data available will enable the improvement in business environment and its related services and reduce administrative procedures, enrich scientific and research activity, as well as spread information, in general.
A number of Omani and international experts and stakeholders from within the country and abroad are participating in the National Open Data Symposium. The second day of the seminar will be devoted to workshops. Each workshop will focus on one of five sectors, namely education, health, labor market, environment, transport and logistics.
